Ms. Williams musical career began at the youthful age of twelve. This early exposure began at Greater Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C, of which Sharrie was a faithful member.
Ms. Williams was one of the lead vocalist for GWT Inspirational Voices of whom she recorded live under the direction of Hubert J. Williams and Producer, the late Mattie Moss Clark, the Voices of Joy, and The Sisters of Love. In addition, she has been the opening act for the Winans, Walter Hawkins, Shirley Caesar, Rev. James Cleveland and the New Jerusalem Inspirational Voices, all renowned gospel singers and groups. Under the direction of Michael Matthews, Sharrie was able to combine her acting and vocal talents in the play, "I need a Man", which toured throughout the United States. Her roots being deep in gospel, jazz, and blues with contemporary influences such as Tina Turner, KoKo Taylor, Etta James, Pattie LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, and the legendary Billy Holiday, they help form her unique style. After getting out of an abusive relationship of seven and a half years which Sharrie wasn't allowed to sing, she turned to drugs and alcohol to ease the pain. Her healing process came when she joined the band Blues Controversy, as the lead vocalist. She later formed a house band for the Wiseguys club - Sharrie Williams and The Wiseguys were born. 1996 Sharrie began her new life, relying on God, she became drug and alcohol free, and its been up and away ever since. She now is part owner of Wiseguys club and performs there every Monday night.
She has given great and unforgettable performances in Blues Festivals and clubs. She has appeared with the likes of Larry McCray, Zoom, Sugar Blue, Dion Payton, KoKo Taylor, Bobby Bland, Walter Trout, Johnny Taylor, Joanna Connor, Matthew Scholler, Dizzy Gilespie and Sinbad. She also appeared in Charleston South Carolina's Low Country Blues Bash 2001, along with Delbert McClinton, Walter Wolfman Washington, Ron Prince, Eugene Bridges, Lazy Leaster, Magic Fred Reif.
Sharrie performs regularly at Buddy Guys Legends in Chicago; her most memorable performance was opening up for the legend himself, Mr. Buddy Guy. This is where she caught the eye of one of England's finest producers, Mike Vernon. Mr. Vernon was moved by and deeply believed in this young artist and her song writing ability. He secured a major recording deal to record her originals in a CD entitled "Real Woman". Sharrie recently recorded a live CD entitled "Sharrie Williams Live at Wiseguys", soon to be released. Backed by her hard hitting, funky unit consisting of James Owens, Mark Miller, Mark Bryant this is an all star act you must see.
Chevrolet featured Sharrie as Black Artist of the month, with center fold spread in Ebony, Jet, Essence, Emerge, Black Enterprise, photo by world famous photographer Tom Bert.
Sharrie's smoky, sexy and imitable style always leaves the audience calling for more songs. She emerges as a humble but strong individual, a talented sonstress that stands on her own. Having lived the blues she sings to inspire people not to let the blues get the best of you, Sharrie's motto is: "I can do all things through Christ that strengths me."
